Do we need a “Social Network Systems Architecture” that works better than we have today ?

Diesem Thema widmen sich unter anderm zwei recht lesenswerte Beitraege.

Zum einen Louis Gray, wobei “duplicate content” eine tragende Rolle einnimmt:

[..] My goal, as it was then, is to create the content once, and have it land once, in the right places, as determined by the potential audience. As I see it, there are two categories of outlets, the content creation sites, and the content collectors. For me, my major content collectors are FriendFeed, Google Buzz, and to a lesser extent, Facebook, which I do not optimize well for, admittedly. For me, the content creation sites can be this blog, my Google Reader shares, Delicious bookmarks, Cinchast recordings, or photos from Smugmug and Flickr. Twitter works both as a creator of content and a distributor of content. Friendfeed also does an amazing job at redistributing content. [..] source

Und zum anderen Jason Perlow

[..] As we say in the biz, the middleware sucks. But since everyone else who tries to tie these things together are in more or less the same boat that I am, our level of expectations are pretty low in general.

All of that hassle as I have described above is just to address direct updates entered through some sort of client software. Then there’s the issue of Blog updates, as I mentioned earlier.

You’d think the Twitter service itself would have some mechanism for directly pulling updates from blogs, and pushing directly to FaceBook, but it doesn’t. You have to use a 3rd-party service, at least for the Blogs. [..] source

Die Idee, den Baecker meines Vertrauens nach seiner Fan Page auf Facebook zu fragen, werde ich wohl sogleich wieder verwerfen …
